The entrance to Shivalaya Park

Shivalaya means temple of Shiva. Shivalaya Park was built for the 2025 Maha Kumba Mela out of recycled construction waste. At this park, there are models of all 12 jyotirlingams that are found in India. Jyotirlingam means "radiant light of Lord Shiva" and is a naturally occurring Shiva Lingam. This is different from a regular Shiva Lingam, which is man made. The park has a waterway throughout, and visitors can rent paddleboats. You can see a news report about this amazing park here.

This sculpture greets visitors at the entrance to the park. It shows the Devas and Asuras churning the ocean of milk. This is a prominent story in Hindu mythology and the Kumba Mela's origin. Read the story here.

Nandi is Shiva's bull, and always sits outside the temples where the Shiva Lingams reside. Nandi keeps watch over the Lingams.

I did not keep track of which temple I was photographing. The perfectionist in me is bothered by that, and wants to research which one is which so I can tell you. Fortunately, the perfectionist in me is taking a break while I am in Ganeshpuri. Enjoy these beautiful replicas of famous temples throughout India.
